Mobile Identity (MI)

Android is an open mobile platform that allows to create compelling mobile phone applications.

MI is comprised of a blue-tooth enabled Android application that allows users to use their mobile phone anywhere they need to identify themselves. A few scenarios are listed below:

Home Security System: MI is used to access blue-tooth enabled home security system.

Signing in to work: Employees use their mobile phones to sign-in, sign-out from work and to gain access to office buildings.

Pay Securely: Customers use their cellular phones to digitally sign a receipt at a mall, shop or restaurant. This receipt is then sent to a third party payment system, like Google Checkout, for settlement.

Advantages of using a Mobile Phone for identification:

Availability: Mobile phones are commonly used worldwide.

Personalization: Each user is identified individually allowing  personalized services. For example, depending on who opens the car, seat positions and climate controls are adjusted accordingly.

Secure: Important information, like debit card numbers, is never disclosed. If a mobile phone is stolen or lost, identities in the phone can easily be canceled. There is no longer a need to change locks when keys are lost.

Consolidation: Users will no longer need to carry many Ids, debit cards, keys etc. A single mobile phone replaces them.
